YES I CAN-SI SE PUEDE

Tutoring Program.jpeg

The Yes I Can/Si Se Puede Program at the Lompoc Teen Center is intended to support academic success and college readiness for middle school students. We want to establish an academic excellence program modeled after the much acclaimed PEAC Program (Program for Effective Access to College) established by Santa Barbara Unified School District approximately 13 years ago. This academic success and college readiness program will target 25 -30 incoming 7th and 8th graders from Lompoc Middle School, Vandenberg Middle School, attending private schools and students that are being homeschooled.

All students, much like the PEAC (Program for Effective Access to College) Model, should demonstrate a proficiency in math and science, or minimally have a desire to excel academically, achieve academic success, and become the best of themselves in pursuit of a post secondary education and beyond.

Selected students will be predominantly from low-income, disadvantaged families and must sign a written agreement to adhere to program guidelines. The program is designed to close the achievement gap of underserved students, particularly ethnic minority students.

The Yes I Can-Si Se Puede program also establishes a 529 Post-Secondary Scholarship Program (or, another similar account) with a commitment of $500.00 per academic year for each student enrolled in the program that maintains eligibility requirements.

Lompoc Teen Center is currently accepting applications for the 2022-2023 school year. Limited scholarships are available on a need-basis. For more information, please contact us at (805) 741 - 7904.
